The Prince of Wales Will Participate in COP30 Climate Summit in South America

The Prince of Wales will represent the United Nations climate conference in South America next month, as announced by palace sources.

Prince William and King Charles made a joint appearance on Thursday evening at a gathering preceding the environmental conference, which is set to be held in the northern Brazilian city of Belém.

The royal pair were participating in the Natural History Museum reception, marking an unusual joint appearance at a environmental conference preliminary meeting arranged together with the British authorities.

Climate Leadership Commitment

King Charles has been a long-time champion of environmental conservation - and Prince William has assumed the responsibility, with his own Earthshot awards, which will be taking place in South America preceding the climate conference.

Royal sources have characterized the Prince's participation at the upcoming climate summit as taking on an important role in "environmental negotiations".

Previous Activities

The King and Prince of Wales, making a joint entrance in the official car, were greeted attendees such as conservation experts, researchers, environmental activists, foreign representatives and government officials.

This involvement included speaking together with French leader Macron of the French Republic and other global statesmen at the Marine Economy Conference in Monaco during the current year.

Environmental Prize Link

The COP30 summit will align with the William's personal sustainability recognition program, which will finish in Rio de Janeiro the eve of he participates in the climate conference on the sixth of November.

In recent days the royal figure referred to the prize competitors as "heroes of our time".

Monarch's Environmental Record

The King has been a key figure at previous climate summits, providing the introductory remarks in Dubai for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the observation: "We are custodians of the planet, not its owners".

"For decades I've committed a substantial portion of my life trying to warn of the survival risks challenging our world over global warming, climate change and ecological decline," the King told delegates.
