NFL Roundup: Denver Narrowly Beat Struggling Jets in Defensive Battle
During a low-scoring contest on Sunday, the Denver Broncos managed to secure a 13-11 victory over the struggling New York Jets. Quarterback Bo Nix threw an early touchdown pass and specialist Wil Lutz kicked the game-winning go-ahead field goal to seal the hard-fought win.
Dominant Performance Wins Contest
Despite registering nine sacks versus Jets QB Justin Fields, the Broncos found themselves trailing 11-10 after giving up a safety in the third quarter. Interestingly, the Jets could only produce just 82 offensive yards throughout the entire game.
Nix, who went 19 of 30 passes for 174 yards, led a critical 12-play, 65-yard possession that ended with Lutz's 27-yard kick with just over five minutes remaining.
Historic Difficulties for Jets Attack
Despite their horrendous offensive display, the Jets still had the ball with a opportunity to score a possible winning score. However Fields was tackled on fourth down from the Denver 44 when coach Aaron Glenn opted to go for it instead of calling on kicker Nick Folk for a long kick.
The Jets quarterback struggled all game, completing just 9 of 17 attempts for 45 yards. New York ended up with minus-10 net yards passing, the fewest in any contest since 1998.
"Our passing game was non-existent," the coach commented following the game.
