Mario's Galactic Adventure Teaser Arrives, Unveiling Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. This occurred during a dedicated Nintendo presentation that highlighted the forthcoming animated feature.
The follow-up to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will send Mario to the far corners of the cosmos. Along the way, he discovers a new princess and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
An Interstellar Journey Inspired by Classic Games
Much like the games from the Wii period that act as its source material, Mario will venture away from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. On his epic voyage, he will meet again some recognizable characters, including the Luma, a breakout star from the original cinematic release.
Yet it looks like Mario and his sibling Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who reportedly wields metal-based powers. Notably, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also contains hints to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Celebrity Voice Actors Returns and Expands
The feature will feature once again of the original voice cast, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.
Mario's Major Moment
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is scheduled to arrive close to the 40th anniversary of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. In addition to the movie, 2026 looks set to be a major period for Mario and his friends.
Nintendo has a trio of new releases publicly declared for that year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Launch Date Set
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
