BF6 Players Are Convinced: Tasks Are Excessively Difficult

The release of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 was met with broad praise, especially for its flagship multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, simultaneous player numbers surged to nearly 750,000. Yet, in spite of its success, an increasing amount of players are protesting against a portion of the release's toughest challenges, which are mandatory to obtain particular firearms.

Gamers have begun resorting to personalized games set up using Battlefield Portal to finish these tasks, underscoring just how grueling these assignments have become.

Understanding BF6 Assignments

Missions serve as Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, as opposed to the frequently updated day-to-day and weekly tasks. It features four categories of assignments, but while the majority only reward skins and a few gadgets, completing the weapon assignments is the only way of obtaining 12 of the 41 key firearms available in the game.

Some of these restricted firearms may soon find their way on rankings for the top weapons in Battlefield 6.

Community Frustration via Reddit

On Reddit, players are justifiably sharing their frustrations about how difficult and grindy several of these challenges are. An individual player pointed out one of the most outrageous examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
  • Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs

"This mission is so terrible and completely out of mind, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a statement that captures just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.

Suppression in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many positive effects in fights as it did in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.

Additionally, hipfiring an LMG is highly imprecise and is effective only at point-blank proximity, which is not usually a position you want to be. The commenter also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that task would be far more appropriate to hipfire kills, and the other way around.

Another Extremely Difficult Task

A different forum member brought attention to an additional excessively hard challenge, this time in the sniper rifle category to unlock the PSR:

  • Secure 150 precision takedowns beyond 200 meters with marksman guns

This is difficult enough as it is, but there's another important point to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at such a long range.

There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but given there are merely nine battlegrounds in the game currently, it implies you must stick to playing one of the larger locales, Mirak Valley, and possibly an additional option at a push if you aim to take long-range shots from a significant distance.

The Workaround

However, there is a solution: the portal. This portal feature is a feature that enables you to make custom game modes on the battleground of your choice, complete with bots. This implies you can bypass the intended method… but it isn't truly in line with the intended gameplay experience.

Yet, if completing the missions in a proper game feels like anti-playing, since you have to play in such an unconventional way that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can fault a player for grinding them out in a private match so teammates aren't hindered?

Future Adjustments

It won't come as a surprise if some of these assignments are toned down in the next few updates, because unless they are modified, certain gamers simply are unlikely to obtain the locked firearms.

At the moment, the player base continues to share their thoughts on these demanding battlefield assignments, anticipating a less arduous player experience in coming revisions.
