Springfield's Favorite Family Arrives in Rocket League: But It's Not the Vehicle Fans Are Dreaming Of

We already knew that The Simpsons was collaborating with Fortnite, but this isn't the sole place where fans can immerse themselves in the world of Springfield. The beloved show is coming over to Rocket League, introducing an vehicle customization option that will also be usable in Fortnite. That said, whether players will actually want to use it is another question, as fans have their hearts set on just one Springfield car everyone is eager to drive, and this isn't it.

The Dream Vehicle

Although most players would absolutely enjoy to compete behind the wheel of Homer's custom creation—the notoriously impractical automobile Homer designed himself in the classic installment "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—regrettably, that isn't what's being offered. We aren't even receiving the Canyonero, the heavy-duty vehicle featured in the tenth season. Rather, players are getting the family's everyday beat-up sedan, which has been in the family since 1989. Though this particular car has accumulated plenty of miles, it stands as an iconic element of the show. For those who pay attention to Rocket League car hitboxes, the Simpson family car uses the identical collision model as the Dominus body type.

Additional Themed Cosmetics

But that's not the only cosmetic from the series arriving in the game. The event will additionally feature a set of challenges to earn more goodies, all of which are inspired by the show. As detailed in a press release, the challenges will task participants to "achieve a certain number of centers and clears as there are The Simpsons seasons, gather boost canisters as if your GPS is set to the Simpson residence, and travel a specific distance worthy of acquiring the ideal pastries!"

Although the full lineup of earnable items isn't yet disclosed, here is what has been confirmed up to this point:

  • Blinky antenna topper
  • Homer's Hedges player banner
  • Garbage-themed wheels
  • 20,000 experience points for each challenge

Based on promotional images is a reliable guide, it appears fans will also receive wheels featuring a TV showing the show's opening credits, alien antenna toppers, a frosted doughnut trail, and rocket boosts themed to smoldering rubber and Krusty's famous restaurant.

Launch Dates and Crossover Details

The Rocket League collaboration coincides with the extensive The Simpsons takeover of Fortnite, which brings a completely new playable area of Springfield, as well as a 30-day seasonal progression system. The Rocket League x The Simpsons event begins on November 1st and concludes on Nov. 17.
